Thus Spoke Zarathustra

Friedrich Nietzsche | 1883 | ★★★☆☆
Read: July 24, 2021

At times, lucidly good, otherwise, packed tight with metaphorical garbage. God knows what Nietzsche is saying half the time, are all these parables just desperate space fillers? Or are they deep insights that I have to load up on hallucinogenics and mountain hikes to understand?

My favourite parts are the songs: the Night Song, the Dance Song(s). These are even better when read out loud and you get to experience the rhythm of them. My least favourite parts involve the random dwarves and wizards that pop up.

There’s definitely a vibe that suits this work, but overall I just wish Nietzsche was a little clearer.
