While sometimes brilliant and filled with the spirit of adventure, Ernesto’s diary was never meant to be published and perhaps it would have been better that way. Without his editing, approval, or perhaps explanation at history we see undertones of sexism and racism that aren’t so easy to explain away with historical context. Mostly, a poor man’s On the Road, but a fun read nonetheless.
