The Magician of Lublin

Isaac Bashevis Singer | 1960 | ★★★☆☆

A tale of a man’s delusion of grandeur.

Is there a moral to the story? Our titular anti-hero thinks a lot of himself, has a few affairs, they go quite badly, and he repents for his sins.

I was enticed into this book by the line ‘a story of a man fleeing from love’. Is he really fleeing from love? Or just himself? I think the latter, and that makes it a let down.
