Holy shit this book is fantastic.
Kleppman is a phenomenally thorough, and the subject of data systems is well-suited to his meticulous eye. He has the rare gift of being both a leading expert, and a skilled pedagogue.
This book journeys through all parts of data structures, data systems, and data flows, bordering on the pedantic in the best possible sense of the word but remaining playful and fun.
You would think that he would bore you by the seventh unique way in which a process may unexpectedly pause on a machine (seriously, seventh!!), but his passion for the subject is so pervasive that you can’t help but be fascinated.
Both a delight to read through, and I’m sure a reference book for many years to come.
