Candide

Voltaire | 1759 | ★★★★☆
Read: July 17, 2017

Bizarre in it’s straight forwardness, this short story obliterates any optimism one has left, but has the good humour of giving you a laugh along the way. Written in the style that philosophy should be – with the story being entertaining enough to let the philosophy unwittingly hoodwink you and beat you in the head at the very end.
