Babel really resonates with me on the importance of speaking other languages, the otherness that others can make you feel, the joy of learning. I love its vignettes on etymology, the joy of words, the things lost in what we say, it’s beautiful. I think Babel is let down by being of its time, it feels like the world has moved on from some of the stronger views expressed, if through the historical lens.
